Hazelhurst to Re-open on 22nd June 2020
A message from the Hazelhurst Team:
Following the easing of restrictions in NSW we are excited to welcome you back to Hazelhurst Arts Centre from Monday 22 June!
We know Hazelhurst is an important and valued part of our community and we look forward to welcoming you back to a refreshed and safe facility. Until then we are completing valuable maintenance and improvement works and developing new ways for you to enjoy Hazelhurst.
As we re-open on Monday 22 June, the health and well-being of the community and our staff remains our top priority and we’ve been carefully planning the measures we need to implement, in line with government restrictions and health guidelines.
One measure we all are aware of is the need for social distancing which means we need to limit the numbers in the gallery, our studios and cafe. Initially we will open the galleries, the gardens and the cafe and you will be able to book your visit to Hazelhurst online to help ensure you can visit when you choose.
At a later date we will introduce a new range of art classes, which meet government restrictions and health guidelines. These classes will need to be a lot smaller so our regular Term Art Class Program and School Holiday Program will be temporarily suspended until further notice.
Please keep checking our social media pages for further updates as they become available.
See you soon!

Christopher Menz, who is the former director of the AGSA and former curator of decorative arts at the NGV, will illuminate us on the leading Victorian artist, designer and writer, William Morris.William Morris (1834 – 1896), was an English textile designer, poet, novelist, translator, and socialist activist. Associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement, he was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he played a significant role in propagating the early socialist movement in Britain. A famous William Morris quote is: “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”.
