    William Morris with Christopher Menz

Saturday 17 November, 2018,  2.30pm in the Hazelhurst Theatrette

Christopher Menz, who is the former director of the AGSA and former curator of decorative arts at the NGV, will illuminate us on the leading Victorian artist, designer and writer, William Morris.

William Morris (1834 – 1896), was an English textile designer, poet, novelist, translator, and socialist activist. Associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement, he was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he played a significant role in propagating the early socialist movement in Britain. A famous William Morris quote is: “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”.
