There are few countries in the world that can rival Iran with its diversity of cultures and spectacular ancient monuments. Join Dr John Tidmarsh as we explore its striking landscapes, timeless villages, and legendary cities such as Persepolis, Takht-i Sulayman (with its fire temples and ‘bottomless’ lake) and magnificent Isfahan, ‘Pearl of Islam’.
John Tidmarsh is the former president of the University of Sydney’s Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation and former lecturer in the Department of Archaeology. He is co-director of the University’s excavations at Pella in Jordan, and the Australian Archaeological Mission at Jebel Khalid in Syria. He has also excavated in Greece and Cyprus and has led numerous tours to the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean.
